My sweet Golden Retriever

Dogs may truly be man’s and woman’s best friend, but they’re not great at entertaining themselves. How many times have you come home to discover that your furry bud has chewed through your favorite pair of shoes or the new couch cushions? Dogs hate being bored, and they get destructive when they have nothing else to keep them occupied. That’s where these 10 awesome tech devices come in!

Treat Cam

All you need is a smartphone and an internet connection. The Petzi Treat Cam interfaces with your smartphone to allow you to watch and talk to your pet via the miracle of technology! Keep it filled with your pup’s favorite treats and reward them for their good behavior at the press of a button. The camera even trains your dog to stand by it when you want to see him by using a tone to signal treat delivery. Another is the Furbo Dog Camera  This treat tossing, Full HD Wifi Pet Camera with 2-Way Audio, Designed for Dogs, Compatible with Alexa (As Seen On Ellen). Toss a treat to your dogs via the free Furbo iOS/Android app. Fill it with your dogs’ favorite treats & play a game of catch.

PupPod

Shaped like a Kong, but more complicated. The Increasingly difficult puzzles keep your dog guessing, and each one he solves results in a tasty treat prize! You can control it with your smartphone and get stats on how many puzzles your dog has solved and how long it took. So, how smart is your fur baby?

iFetch

You don’t have to be home to play fetch anymore. Teach your dog to return the ball to the automatic ball launcher chute. Then watch as it flings the ball for your pup, and he happily plays fetch for hours while you work to pay for his toys!

GoBone

This bone rolls and turns, and your dog won’t be able to resist chasing it! Set speed and time duration based on your pet’s needs and head out, knowing your shoes and furniture are safe. You can access it on your smartphone and turn it back on (or off) in the afternoon.

Pet Tunes

You’re not the only one that feels better listening to your favorite songs. This portable speaker is loaded with music proven to soothe stressed dogs. And you can add even more dog-approved tunes from apps like Spotify to provide your four-legged friend a full day’s worth of calming sounds.

PetCube

Ever been stuck in a meeting or after-work party and wished your pet could give you an escape call? Now they can! The motion-activated sensor in PetCube lets your pet reach you via video call. You’ll get a notification and can watch the video. You can also interact, much like Facetime or Skype.

DogTV

There really is a channel for everything these days. Cartoons, classic TV, movies, etc. Created with your pet in mind, DogTV provides ‘round the clock entertainment for your pet. Just don’t let them become a lazy couch potato who won’t go for walks!

Automatic Feeder

Dogs get really freaked out when dinner is late. Honestly, can you blame them? An automatic pet feeder that you can control with your smartphone means dinner will never be late again – even if you’re stuck in a meeting or sitting in traffic. Even better, it’s compatible with Alexa! And if your furry family also includes cats, they’ll love this too.

Pebby

Unlike any other ball your dog has played with, this one interacts with a collar and will chase him! You can put it on auto mode or connect to it with your smartphone and have playtime during your lunch break, even though you’re not physically there.

Wag

All this technology is great, but at the end of the day, nothing beats human contact. If you can’t be there as much as you’d like, hire a dog walker. Wag and similar sites help connect you to dog walkers in your area and provide you with real-time tracking on the route and time of your dog’s adventure.

My Dog

My golden retriever, Lily, sort of inspired this blog. She’s truly the best dog I’ve ever had. Sadly, at 12 years of age, she was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few months (or less) to live. Needless to say, this has been a sad time for my family. We’re grateful to have had the time with her, and we’ll miss her terribly. So often we take things for granted. Lily’s diagnosis has helped me refocus on what’s truly important.

I hope all of you have an amazing dog like Lily in your life. If you think they’d benefit from any of the tech ideas presented here, I’d be glad for you to make a purchase. But neither Lily nor I would want you to buy something that doesn’t help. Make sure you take time to love your furry family every day.
